As lavender farmers in Southern Oregon, Sue, and Derek Owen began a new life in 2011. Each year, there is an open house on the farm in June and July from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Friday through Monday.
Their fields are free of chemicals and pesticides, and their products are as natural as possible. Lavender is fed Epsom salts in the spring and fall, but by and large, it seems to be able to thrive on its own. Their own lavender is distilled. The slow process takes hours for each run with a small still. Clear the barn at the end of the season takes months.
